Ductless Forensic Containment Products

WHAT are Ductless Evidence Drying Cabinets and Ductless Forensic Workstations?

Ductless Evidence Drying Cabinets are ventilated, filtered enclosures designed to safely and efficiently dry and store various articles of physical evidence that are suspected of containing physiological fluids, such as blood, semen, urine, saliva and fecal matter that may require contaminant-free air drying prior to analysis. Ductless Forensic Workstations are filtered enclosures designed to create a safe workspace for the processing of physical evidence employing development methods that use latent print powders, chemical reagents (ninhydrin, silver nitrate, DFO), vapors and esters.

WHO needs Ductless Evidence Drying Cabinets and Forensic Workstations?

Anyone involved in technical analysis and testing of crime scene evidence and/Or receiving and storing contaminated evidence who is concerned with personal safety and evidence integrity.

WHY choose Ductless Drying Cabinets and Forensic Workstations?

Workstations require expensive ductwork to route the fumes, gases and odors outside. Ductless systems use bonded carbon and HEPA filtration to trap harmful and putrid gases, odors, chemicals and bacteria. Plus, the drying cabinet or workstation can be moved to any desired area.

HOW are Ductless Evidence Drying Cabinets and Forensic Workstations important to my department?

They are important for two reasons: evidence integrity and safety. A ductless dryling cabinet will protect the evidence from cross-contamination and the operator from possible airborne pathogen contamination. Putrid odors caused by decomposition as well as harmful viruses and bacteria are trapped by the filtration system which allows for a cleaner, safer work environment.

Down Draft Dusting Station

New from SIRCHIE® is the DDS Series of Latent Print Dusting Stations. The DDS Series pulls air away from the operator in two directions. First air is pulled downward into the stainless steel work surface to remove the heavier particulate found in latent print powder. Additionally, air is pulled horizontally to the rear of the workstation to capture the lighter particulate. Dual-zone filtration makes the Downdraft Dusting Station ideal for processing latent fingerprint evidence using powders. The Downdraft Dusting Station fits perfectly on any counter top Or beneath typical cabinetry. The low profile design can be placed in any law enforcement setting and is light enough to be carried to the crime scene for onsite processing. The DDS Series operates at a very low noise level and since it recycles the room air, it is extremely inexpensive to operate and maintain. Fully constructed of thermally-fused polypropylene, the DDS Series Downdraft Dusting Station is extremely easy to clean. Simply remove the stainless steel tray to gain access to the spill tray for cleaning. The HEPA filter is constantly monitored and a warning light will appear in the work area when filter replacement is necessary. The simpleto- use design provides critical operator protection from potentially harmful powders and particulate associated with latent print processing. The DDS Series provides unrestricted operator access making the dusting station perfect for processing both large and small evidentiary items.

Latent Print Dusting Station

The DS100 and DS200 provide superior protection while dusting items of evidence with a variety of latent print powders. Even laminar flow air pulls potentially harmful particulate away from the officer’s breathing zone and into a multi-level filtration zone. The DS100 and DS200 are constructed from clear polycarbonate to allow excellent lighting conditions for observation by officers. Access into the latent print dusting station is easily obtained using the multiple folding sash doors. The sash doors provide a barier between the process and the operator for added protection from smaller and fighter particulate.

Due to a variance in particle size in all latent finger print powders, the Orly effective way to capture the smallest to the largest particles is by pulling them away from the operator’s breathing zone. Lighter and smaller particulate have a natural tendency to rise, while heavier particulate will fall on the base of the dusting station and can simply be cleaned. The most effective way to pro vide personal protection from latent fingerprint powder is to use an upward flowing laminar flow workstation. Sirchie’s latent print dusting stations have been independently tested for powder containment.

Ductless Identification Workstation

SIRCHIE®’s ductless fume hoods are ideal for protecting the operator from toxic gases and particulates used in routine analysis. The hoods are designed to protect the operator from residua cyanoacrylate and carbon-based powders used in forensic analysis. Other commonly used chemicals, such as methanol, xylene and acetone, are also contained. The AirSafe™ Controller automatically monitors filter life and airflow conditions. The AirSafe™ Controller, not your nose, detects when to change the filters. The lower sash is outfitted with an electromagnetic controller that senses when the sash is lifted. When the sash is raised, the blower increases velocity to compensate for the additional opening.
